YouTube – Don’t Waste Your Pulpit
What you won’t hear anywhere else and only hear from the pulpit is the glory of Christ- or at least you would if preachers believed that the word of God was living and active and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing the to the divsion of the soul and of the spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Here’s an encouraging 4 minutes from John Piper who exhorts us in saying Don’t Waste Your Pulpit

Mission us about Glory … God’s glory
I’ve been thinking how often Jesus must hang his head and weep when I vainly do things for my own glory. then I came across this cracker
“‘the highest of missionary motives is neither obedience to the great commission (important as that is), nor love for sinners who are alienated and perishing (strong as that incentive is ,especially when we contemplate the wrath of God…), but rather zeal – burning and passionate zeal –for the glory of Christ… only one imperialism is Christian… and that is concern for His Imperial Majesty Jesus Christ, and for the glory of his empire.’
John Stott, Romans: God’s good News for the World (Downer Grove, Ill.:IVP, 1994) p53.
When will I learn that he gets the glory, and I get the joy in that?
All wreath of empire laid at his feet.
